Frequently Asked Questions

We hope we have answered the frequently asked questions here, but if you want to know anything else please email or phone us – there is no such thing as a daft question!

We are a small business and so we have to ensure our team are fully utlisised throughout the day. As a small business we hope you understand the impact of cancelling or at the last minute not turning up at all. Also, if you are more than 15 minutes late arriving, because of the ‘knock on’ effect and disruption to other customers, we will not be able to start your appointment.

We understand that it is not always possible to attend the scheduled appointment, but please let us know as soon as possible by calling the salon you were booked in at.

If you fail to attend, forget your appointment, arrive more than 15 minutes late, or cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, we reserve the right to charge you the full booking price.

Pop in for a Free Consultation first and our team will help determine the best team members for you based on the outcome you want to achieve.

A patch test or skin test is always necessary by every professional salon 48 hours before a colour service, and must be repeated at least every 6 months. Your body changes, so even if you have had your hair coloured before, changes to medication, pregnancy, diet etc. can alter the way your skin reacts to the products used in hair colouring. It takes just 5 minutes and we dab a small amount of product to the back of your ear. If you have any adverse reaction we will not proceed with the colour service.

You must be at least 16 years old and if you are aged 16-18 years you will also require parental/carers consent to have your hair coloured. You will also require a patch test which must be done at least 48 hours beforehand.

We have limited our pricing to just 4 levels (much less than many salons do) and this reflects the experience and expertise of the team member. Professional hairdressers will have undergone extensive training and this expertise and experience contributes to the different levels and the outcomes that can be achieved.

This is very rare for us and we want you to be delighted after each visit to Hair Host. Please tell us while you are in the salon, or if you feel uncomfortable telling the hairdresser you can contact Sam on 01280 822 831 or email hello@hair.host and we will do our utmost to do whatever it takes to put things right with you.

Professional products will be more expensive than a supermarket – we acknowledge that. This is because of the ingredients used and the
research gone in to blending the right ingredients to really maintain healthy hair. The shampoo products we use & sell are sulphate free, which causes less damage to hair and our conditioners really help to moisturise and give the hair some nourishment. Many of our products are also suitable for Vegans.

Speak to a member of our team. They can give you tips on blow-drying your hair to avoid excessive heat for example, and how to protect your hair from harsh environmental factors such as sun exposure and chlorine. But actually maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated and getting enough sleep can also contribute to overall hair quality.

A member of our team will be able to give you a more precise answer, based on your hair type and style, but typically we suggest every 6-8 weeks to help maintain healthy hair and eliminate split ends. In between cuts with us we offer all our customers a free fringe trim – just pop into one of our salons when passing.

To improve the work-life balance for our fantastic people, we took the decision that we would close both salons every fourth Saturday, so that our entire team have a Saturday each month they can plan to spend quality time with close family & friends – or to get away for the weekend.
