Nationwide, hairdressing apprenticeships have collapsed from around 18,000 in 2015 to just 3,000 in 2025. College-trained hairdressers increasingly lack the skills needed on a salon floor, so few go on to secure permanent positions, despite two years of training and thousands of pounds in government funding. It’s a tough outcome for young people who deserve better.

That’s why we launched the Hair Host Academy: structured, in-salon training at our Milton Keynes salon, leading to an NVQ and a genuine route into permanent employment after two years. Our founder is a member of the Goldwell Art Squad, shaping next season’s styles and colours alongside some of the industry’s most innovative stylists, as well as being a finalist for UK & Ireland in the category Creative Haircutter of the Year. She will lead your training throughout your time with us.

Our training standard is high, and so is our credibility. Our team is selected annually to work backstage at London and New York Fashion Week, meaning our graduates should stand out well above typical college leavers. It’s a small venture, but one we believe can make a real difference for young people in and around Milton Keynes and Buckingham.
